OLYMPICS LET THE PUBLIC KNOW THE CHARM OF GOLF

The final round of the women's golf event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games ended on August 7 at kasumigaseki Country Club. The American shot a final-round 69 to win the gold medal with a total of 267 (-17). Japanese took silver after beating New Zealand at the Hole. New Zealand won the bronze. China's Feng Shanshan and Lin Xiyu were eighth and joint ninth, respectively.

The first three days of the women's golf round of the Tokyo Olympic Games were scorching sun and the fourth day was rainy. Feng Shanshan first round of play is not good, play above par 3, but every interview reporters can feel her positive attitude. 'The 18 holes of golf are full of uncertainty,' she said. 'Always stay positive and do your best.'

In 2016, when golf returned to the Olympic Games after a 112-year absence, Feng Shanshan won the bronze medal in women's golf in Rio, China's first Golfing Olympic medal. 'It's a great experience to be here in Tokyo for the second time,' she said. 'I'm very grateful to the Olympics for allowing the public to learn about golf on the highest platform of the sport.'

"When I was young I was very thin and my father worked for the city's sports authority and he wanted me to be healthier and more outgoing. After trying tennis and swimming, I was lucky to choose golf, and golf chose me. From this sport, I think I met a better version of myself." "This sport is not about confrontation, it's about beating yourself, so you can only control what you do and constantly improve and challenge yourself," Feng said.

Each course has its own characteristics, with roughs, water hazards, slopes and bunkers presenting different challenges. In addition, changes in rain, light and wind require players to constantly adjust to the weather conditions. "Playing 18 holes is like living your whole life. It's full of ups and downs. It's full of unknowns and challenges. Feng shanshan said.

In recent years, Feng has seen more attention on golf in China, with more teenagers playing the game. "Playing this sport requires a lot of discipline. Learning to write a scorecard for yourself and your opponents, to plan for yourself before and after the game, to manage your time, including the balance between learning and playing, will help young people develop many good qualities -- integrity, self-discipline, respect for others and self-challenge."

Feng shanshan said that although this will be her last Olympics, she will not leave golf, but will stay in the industry and use her experience to contribute to the development of golf in China.

"The return of golf to the Olympics will help more people see the sport and get more young people involved in the sport. But for training top players, four or five years is too short, so we still can't see too many international level Chinese golfers hit the front of the plane, but we have a lot of 10 to 13 young gofers, we hope that after one or two games, they can grow up and believe that the Chinese team in this project will have better results." Feng shanshan said.
